FOX BAY RETREAT is situated on the West shore of Lake Laberge just north of the capital City of Whitehorse, Yukon. This 30-mile long lake is part of the legendary Yukon River which flows south to north through the lake.

We offer a number of guided tours throughout the winter months and if a guided trip is not your forte, and set yourself up with a personal experience like no other.

Interior

Frame structure suitable for 2,4 or 6 persons. Wood stove for heat. Propane cook stove and lights. Overall main floor space – 26ft X 20ft. Bedroom – 9ft X 9.5ft. Sleeping loft – 10ft X 18ft.

Cabins include a wood or oil stove for heat, all have a propane stove for cooking and there are permanent propane light fixtures. In summer we have the midnight sun but if you’re planning a winter trip, we recommend you bring a LED headlamp and an adequate supply of batteries.

All rentals include access to a common bathroom/shower house. We are literally off-the-grid and generate our own electrical power as required. The generators are noisy and to maintain the wilderness atmosphere the use of them is limited to certain hours each day – these hours are posted and dictate the use of the bathroom/shower facility. Drinking water and water for cooking and other such chores is brought in. Cabin also has its own private outhouse.

There is a wood heated sauna available at all times on a first-come, first-used basis.

Yukon Aurora Tour – 3 days – fully guided (Three Days – Two Nights – Aurora Tour)
-The trip includes:
– Pick up at your hotel in Whitehorse and transport to Fox Bay Retreat. (about 40m/64k -1 hour) on the North Klondike Highway and a breathtaking 5m/8k ride on a privately maintained road through the bush to the shore of Lake Laberge.
– Private accommodation in the cabin of your choice or a bedroom in our Fox Bay Lodge. (double occupancy and subject to availability).
– All meals during your stay. Day 1 – lunch and dinner. Day 2. Breakfast, lunch & dinner. Day 3. Breakfast & lunch.
– Snacks and hot drinks around a nightly bonfire.
– Aurora viewing each evening (weather permitting)
– Transport from Fox Bay Retreat to Whitehorse on the afternoon of day three.

Midnight Sun Summer Tour – 7 days Fully Guided
-We have put together a seven-day introductory trip for those that want to experience the excitement of the Yukon wilderness without a lengthy immersion into the raw backwoods of the north.
-We provide: Airport service-a City of Whitehorse tour-all road transport required for the duration of your stay-all meals at Fox Bay Retreat-canoes, kayaks and all required camping equipment during the tour including tents and sleeping bag. A list or recommended personal equipment you should bring with you will be sent well ahead of the tour date. Your participation in this tour will require you fill out a personal liability waiver

House Rules & Cancellations

Reservations are a must and should be made well in advance if possible. A 25% deposit is required to confirm a reservation. Full payment should be received by us 30 days prior to your expected arrival date. The deposit is refundable if your trip is cancelled 30 days prior to your reservation date but is subject to a 10% administration fee. There is no refund due if the trip is cancelled within the 30 day period but 50% of the funds are usable at any future date for a stay at FOX BAY RETREAT or towards any of the services offered by KANOE PEOPLE LTD within 2 years from the date of your first reservation. There is a 5% tax on all goods and services.

Preparing for your stay at Fox Bay Retreat

Although all cabins are fully equipped for housekeeping, there is no food & supplies kept at Fox Bay Retreat. On your trip out we will be happy to spend some time with you so that you can pick up your groceries and supplies. It is recommended that you make up a menu before hand as there is no – running to the grocery store – once you get there. If you have signed up for one of our guided trips all of the regular meals are provided for. You may still want to pick up some private supplies and you will be given the opportunity to do so.

Dressing for the trip
We realize that not everyone owns suitable clothing for our northern environment. We have added the option of a winter clothing package. This consists of boots, gloves or mitts, snow pants, winter parka, hat or toque. $110.00 per person. We will require; shoe size, height, weight, clothes size (s.m.l.xl.xxl at the time of reserving the trip)
