Pintwala Cottage on Isabella Island near Parry Sound has an old fashioned feel-good charm about it with modern amenities. A lovely breeze comes down the channel on hot days to cool you off. We offer comfortable eating areas inside the cottage, in our screened in porch as well as on the upper deck, which also has a large umbrella to keep the sun off while enjoying lunch.

The bedrooms are in one area of the cottage closed off by a door if you wish to keep that area private and quiet. The kitchen, dining and living rooms are open concept, facing large windows that overlook trees and the water.

The bunkie has a large open deck as well as a screened in porch with seating and a table. There is a room with a composting toilet in the bunkie for convenience at night rather than walking out back to the outhouse, which is in good condition. For further convenience, there is a private outdoor shower provided. Our intent was to discourage washing in the lake for environmental reasons.

Each bedroom has screened windows that open, closets and at least 1 dresser with night tables and lights, and a ceiling fan.

1 Bathroom:
1 x 4 pc (vanity with sink, toilet, tub/shower) with a window
We use the rule “when yellow let it mellow, if it’s brown flush it down”, which helps to keep the septic tank happy.

Bunkie (sleeps 7):
2 bedrooms (10’ x 10’) + loft
Bedroom #4: double with dresser
Bedroom #5: double with dresser + extra single mattress with box spring
A sitting area off the bunkie bedrooms has a loft overhead allowing for 2 people to sleep on the queen air mattress. No standing room in the loft. A ladder is in place to use if the loft is to be utilized.
The bunkie has a private room with a sink for brushing teeth. We do not have running water in the bunkie.
There is a composting toilet for convenience during the night when needed.
We recommend using the outhouse during the day when possible.

Cottage water: can be used for bathing, washing dishes and clothes, and cooking – not potable. You must bring your drinking water. There are free taps to fill water containers as you drive into Parry Sound along Bowes St. in front of the Farmers Market. We refill ours at this spot.

Kitchen details: fully equipped with dishwasher, microwave, coffee maker, toaster and blender.

The interior is sided with cedar and pine in some rooms. We have a wood stove if temperatures ever get down to an uncomfortable level which is very rare in the summer months.

Indoor entertainment: board games, books, cards, puzzles, DVD and CD player, dart set, movies, VCR satellite TV and stereo music player

The cottage exterior is wood siding which adds to its charm. Fire wood is under the screened in porch if needed ($25.00/cart or wheelbarrow). There is a fire pit in front of the main cottage. It is very important to be smart about lighting a fire. If there is fire ban on you will be heavily fined. Check the Parry Sound website for fire bans – zero tolerance for this. We as owners are very cautious with fire on the island. The ground is very dry, heat can travel along the roots and pop up anywhere on the island, we could lose not only our cottages but also our trees and our lives.

You will see 2 canoes, 2 kayaks, a 2-person water bike and a small sailboat available for your use. They will be lying upside down on logs, please store them where you find them. Since water levels can rise with a wind change please move the water toys off the beach otherwise you may or may not find them floating around the next day.

The property is flat, sloping upward towards the cottage, there is a ramp and a push cart to make it easier to load and unload the boat at the dock.

Child/elderly friendly
Dock 8’ x 80’-100’ long – 12 to 15 feet deep, can fit 4 x 20’ boats
Deck at the end of the dock: 12’ x 16’
Upper deck off the screened in porch: 12’ x 16’, lower deck: 20’ x 15’
Hot Tub (additional fee)
Waterfront: 325 feet
Sandy beach on part of waterfront
2 sandy play areas for children – in case water levels are as high as they were in the summer of 2016, one of the play areas has been made much smaller but very safe
Great swimming
Great for use of small water craft like kayaks
Great diving off the end of the dock then swimming over to the slide raft
No quick drop offs in the water
Few weeds – we try to control weeds near the dock; there are weeds on one side of the property where we keep the canoes and kayaks. We pull weeds regularly along the beach swimming area.
Walk-in entry – starts sandy then gets muddy
Clump of rocks that kids like to play around located just off the beach along the shallow part of the dock
Water shoes recommended for kids since the ground around the cottage has the odd rock and tree roots protruding above ground
Play areas for children: in front of the main cottage, and between the cottage and the bunkie
Cottage faces northwest
2 canoes, 2 kayaks ,1 sailboat
View of Parry Island about 1/2 km across with rock face and trees
Private – separated by trees from neighbours on both sides
Waterslide on a raft
Water bike for 2
Windsurfer board – use for paddle boarding
Baby tree swing
Croquet set

House Rules & Cancellations

REQUIREMENT: Before accepting or sending an offer, we will request necessary personal & group information. With this information, a Cottage Rental Agreement (CRA) will be issued (containing property & booking details) that will need to be signed by all guests (age 18+) staying at the cottage. Please read below for a “sample" Cottage Rental Agreement + Liability Waiver.

Terms and Conditions
(Specific terms and conditions may vary according to each cottage)

Cottage Cleaning
Unless extra cleaning service is purchased and specified in your contract, the cottage must be left in the same condition as you found it, ready for the next visitors (specific details will be in the final Cottage Rental Agreement).

All garbage and recycling disposal is the responsibility of the rental client. Garbage is to be placed in garbage bags/recycling boxes and stored safely so that animals cannot get into it. Information and location of the garbage dump specific to the cottage will be provided in the final Cottage Rental Agreement.

Water/Plumbing/Septic System
There are strict rules with regards to septic systems. Failure to follow these rules may result in thousands of dollars in repairs.
1. Only bodily waste materials and toilet paper can be flushed down the toilet. NO FEMININE/BABY PRODUCTS: TAMPONS, PADS, DIAPERS, WIPES.
2. Do not put any solid waste materials or grease down the sink drains.

As most cottages draw water from the lake and only some have water purification systems, you may wish to bring your own drinking water.

Camp/Cooking Fires
Small campfires are permitted as directed by the Ministry of Natural Resources. Please identify and adhere to local fire bans when imposed by local authorities (especially during dry/fire season). Do not burn plastic, tin cans, glass, or any other items that should not be in the fire. Always drown out your fire with plenty of water when left unattended, in particular before going to bed. For the use of firewood, there may be a charge from the owner, approx. $25.00 per cart/wheelbarrow.

No Extra Guests/Parties
If you plan on having any additional guests, you must request permission from the owner.

No Smoking
All of our cottages are Non Smoking of any kind in the interior (specific details will be in the final Cottage Rental Agreement).

If your pet has been approved by the cottage owner, you are solely responsible for its actions and whereabouts (specific details will be in the final Cottage Rental Agreement).

Damage Deposit
If there is any damage to the cottage the claim will be handled between the client and Airbnb.
If there are any noise complaints from the neighbours &/or if the Police are called to the cottage for any negative reason, the owner will have the right to hold back some or all of your damage deposit. Some of this money held back may or may not go to appease the neighbours who have been inconvenienced.

Cancellation Policy:

If we are unsuccessful in re-renting the cottage, all original funds (minus the $150.00 KCV Administration Fee) can be put forward to another cottage rental, at this same cottage, within 1 year (no later than 1 year of your original rental date), during the same season of the next year, of the original rental date (based on availability and at the advertised rates in existence at the time of rebooking).
All “extra persons fees” are non-refundable
If the cancellation notice is less than 90 days prior to the check-in date, and we are unsuccessful in re-renting the cottage for the same dates, all funds will be forfeited. If, however, we are successful in re-renting the cottage for the same dates, the cancelling client will be reimbursed 50% of the original funds paid minus any shortfalls (the rental difference from the advertised rental rates and what the re-renting client has paid) & a $150.00 KCV Administration Fee.
If the outstanding balance of the rental fee as per the CRA is not received at least 28 days prior to the commencement of your rental period and you have not notified us to, the owner will have the right to cancel your reservation and your deposit is forfeited.
