The beauty of Lac Pemichangan is unrivalled.

“Pemichangan" is Algonquin for "Clear Water”. Over 60 metres at its deepest, the water really is crystal clear! 8.8 km long and 6.3 km wide. It is deep and clean. Much of the shoreline is Crown land, with many bays, islands, and a waterfall, lending itself to water activities, nature walks, bird watching, fishing, biking, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, skiing and endless adventures.... or the simpler things in life, a sit down, with the luxury of doing nothing, surrounded by lovely views, fresh air, and the call of the loons.

The cottage, constructed in 2006, has most of the amenities and comfort of a city home, with the rustic charm and quirks of country living. Boasting 64 metres of waterfront, it is private and GREAT for swimming.

• Club de Golf Mont Ste. Marie is 12 km away (16 min)
• Mont Ste. Marie ski and mountain bike trails, tennis courts are 12 km away (16 min)

• The cottage is on the south side of Lac Pemichangan.

• It is situated 100 km from Ottawa (1 h and 20 min drive); 242 km from Montreal (3 h drive).

• 3 bedrooms (6 beds), a 3 season screen porch fitted with a futon, sleep sofa in the great room, and 3 bathrooms; it can comfortably accommodate 10+ guests.

• Near the cottage, the shoreline is rocky and shallow and dropping to 2+m within 5 m from shore, and is not weedy nor silty. It is clean and clear.

• Summer fun is focused on the lake. Swimming is a refreshing delight, and the waterfront even has a small sheltered beach area for children to play and spot crayfish and minnows under a watchful eye. If you want to stay above water, a Canoe, Kayak, paddles, and life jackets are provided. Like to fish? Many a fisherman brag about the “big one that got away”, or brag big-time while frying-up their catch... All this while catching a glimpse of what you thought was a branch, morphing into a majestic Blue Heron, and Loons spreading their wings and taking flight or diving deep to see them pop back up to surface 50 metres away... And the sunsets..........

• Motorboats are permitted on the lake. Launching your boat, should you have one, would require advance notice with the owner of the only boat launch on the south side. We can help arrange for this.

• Autumn brings with it the splendour of Mother Nature unleashing her paintbrush. The brilliant colours during the drive will leave you awed, only to arrive to your own private canvas to enjoy along with crisp fresh air, nature walks, paddling with the call of the loons to serenade you, starry skies, and s’mores around the fire!

• Winter offers its own magic! Snow shoeing, Cross country skiing, making angels, clearing an ice rink on the lake or driving 20 minutes to Lac Ste. Marie’s outdoor public rink for some pick up hockey, or 16 minutes to ski or letting loose in some Après Ski at Mont Ste. Marie... winters may boast even more fun with a wonderful dose of peace and quiet!

• Tranquil and lovely spring, summer, winter and fall views of the lake from many rooms and from the large deck.

• Master bedroom with a comfortable king-sized bed and en-suite bathroom with separate shower, and soaker tub. Palladium windows look out onto the lake and expanse of sky, framing breathtaking sunsets and starry night skies.
• Bedroom 2 is the “family bedroom” with 2 double beds, and twin-sized bunk beds, and en-suite bathroom with shower.
• Bedroom 3 has a double bed and full bathroom adjacent to it.
• 3 season screen porch with “Weather-Wall” windows and a futon.
• Living room has a typical cottage sleep-sofa.
• Please note that the mattresses are all clean, and depending on the occupant’s weight and size, and preferences, they may be considered more or less comfortable. The king sized bed is fitted with a thick mattress topper.
• With concerns over the Covid19 pandemic, it is preferable that guests provide their own bed linens, however clean linen may be provided upon request, and laundering fee.

• The kitchen is equipped with plenty of storage space, a refrigerator, stove with convection oven, microwave, toaster, waffle maker, blender, kettle, coffee grinder, drip coffee maker with filters, and dishwasher. Ample glassware, dishes, serving plates, and 2 fondue pots* are provided, along with dish towels, a sponge, a roll of paper towel, dish and dishwasher soap, and cleaning/disinfecting supplies.
• We drink the water from the lake which is purified and sterilized with an ultraviolet light and filter system. It is recommended to allow water to run upon arrival for a minute before drinking it. If you prefer to bring bottled water, a water cooler is provided.
• Also available are a charcoal grill (charcoal to be provided by the guest), and gas bbq with tank (using washable “Cookina” grilling mats on the grate is recommended).

• The sunny and welcoming dining room, has a 2 story vaulted ceiling, and windows on 3 sides looking out onto the lake, garden, and mature trees. The pine table is surrounded by 8 dining chairs.

• The 3 season screen porch is a favourite retreat to enjoy the outdoors in comfort away from the elements and mosquitoes.

• The living room has a stone fireplace**, comfy reading chairs, couches, a television with a Game Cube, X-Box 360 game console/DVD player, VCR, and CD player, with many movies, games, and CD’s available (no satellite).

• On the shelves of the walk-in closet, in the main floor bedroom, can be found board games and jigsaw puzzles; and whether fiction, history, music, gardening, or birds interest you, many paperback and hardcover books (mainly in English) can be found on shelves and in baskets throughout the cottage.

• Enjoy dining Al fresco, or sipping on sun-downers, at the oval umbrella table on the large deck overlooking the lake.

• An evening fire*** in a closed fireplace surrounded by Adirondack chairs, roasting marshmallows, singing songs, and telling ghost stories, is the epitome of cottage life, and what memories are made of.

• Take note that the landscape is uneven, sloped, and natural. Some areas are rocky and others grass covered. The 3/4 acre property has many mature trees, and the lawn may have tree roots, ruts, or branches creating potential hazards. Care must be taken when walking or playing on the property, and the waterfront is not wheelchair accessible.

• The waterfront has a dock and boathouse, with an aluminum ladder. The dock and ladder are new, but the boathouse is older. You may bring your own boat. If you choose to dock a boat in, or along the side of the boathouse, you must take care to secure the boat, as the owner is not responsible for any potential damages to it.

• One of the great things about cottage life is escaping the hustle and bustle of city life and being “connected”. For many, however, being connected with high speed internet is a necessity. We have installed unlimited high-speed Bell Fibe wifi as well a cellphone booster for texts/calls.

• This cottage is our home. We ask you to please treat it with tender loving care and tidy up after your stay, as if it is your home. It will be checked, cleaned, and sanitized between guests.

• Pets may be welcome upon discussion and approval by the owner. If you do bring your pet, as in the city, poop and scoop rules apply. Please keep your pet and neighbours safe, and do not let your pet wander away.

• Smoking in the cottage is not permitted.

• Subletting the cottage is not permitted.

* Remember gel fuel if a fondue evening is planned.
