Lotus Loft is a stunning petite beauty, charming both inside and out, a perfect destination for relaxation. This transitional mid-century/modern cabin offers 360 degree views as far as the eye can see in a private setting, and offers all you need. Cottage yes, but fully equipped and upscale on an amazing lake that affords the feel of comfort and beauty in tandem.

Clean and pristine, 150 feet of beautiful waterfront. Decking runs almost the entire perimeter of cottage. Patio for dining and BBQ. Swim or fish right off the dock or go a bit further out, into Catalina Bay, perfect for paddling watercraft. Enjoy the best of both worlds – head to town (2 minute paddle to shore or 5 minute drive) or savour this zen retreat surrounded by water and nature. Once you get to the island – you won’t ever want to leave. It’s a complete decompression zone!

Although not large, exponentially you get a lot for a little – truly a gem. In our opinion this cottage doesn’t hold a candle to many of the “mansions” around. It has all you need in one perfect little package to get a taste of Buckhorn, and all that Trent Severn has to offer.

Master Bedroom

You will love this bungalow! You are surrounded in a palpable relaxing vibe, and gorgeous ambiance “ahhh – insert deep breath here” the moment you step inside. Natural rock landscape greets you from the water. You arrive at the front door and enter the open concept main room – a full sitting room with a quaint and beautiful cabin style vibe. The main floor is 600 square feet and houses all including the bedroom and bathroom. The charming kitchen is fully equipped and has a killer lake view.

Bedroom #1 Master: double bed with walkout to balcony

Bathroom: 1 x 3 pc (sink, electric compost toilet, shower-lake water)

Cottage water: from lake – bring your own drinking water

Indoor entertainment: TV, DVD player, board games

Parking at Catalina Bay (1 Parking Permit – please advise if bringing a boat as a boat slip will need to be reserved)

Docking – 2 spots for boats off main docks

Access to island is by water taxi and/or paddleboat provided (100 m from boat launch) ….. please advise

Child/elderly friendly – sloped from waterfront below main house as built on rock base. Flat bungalow style cottage with a few steps to all main docks and decks.

Docks: large dock at water’s edge at entrance. Second and third docks at sides and rear with an additional balcony deck off master bedroom.

Water is 6-10 feet deep at the end of the dock – can vary

Deck runs almost full perimeter of cottage – can enjoy the ambiance of the surroundings and interior rain or shine.

Waterfront: 150 feet around

Best swimming is out in the middle of the bay, not at lake’s edge

Can be weedy depending upon the year. Our family utilizes the water front to wade, and float and enjoy the beauty of the surroundings. When waterskiing and diving is preferred, a short kayak or boat ride to the deeper areas is recommended.

Private – no direct neighbours although there are cottagers surrounding the island as it is located in the middle of the bay.

Beautiful view – overlooks the bay which is generally the quietest part of the big lake with mostly only cottagers, floating, swimming and or fishing on this waterfront.

Wood is available at 10$ per night fee. Notice is required so piles can be dropped off and prepared.

Activities Nearby

You are near the quaint towns of Bobcaygeon and Buckhorn featuring the famous Kawartha Dairy, Kawartha Lakes Art Gallery, Bigley’s Shopping, Sandy Lake Beach and more. Sandy Lake Beach is a short drive away and is excellent for children of all ages. There are numerous golf courses in the area.

Rental rates include all booking fees and taxes, if applicable. Based on 2 people. 4 people Max. $105/extra person. Children under 1 year of age are free.

House Rules & Cancellations

REQUIREMENT: Before accepting or sending an offer, we will request necessary personal & group information. With this information, a Cottage Rental Agreement (CRA) will be issued (containing property & booking details) that will need to be signed by all guests (age 18+) staying at the cottage. Please read below for a “sample" Cottage Rental Agreement + Liability Waiver.

Cottage Cleaning
Unless extra cleaning service is purchased and specified in your contract, the cottage must be left in the same condition as you found it, ready for the next visitors (specific details will be in the final Cottage Rental Agreement).

All garbage and recycling disposal is the responsibility of the rental client. Garbage is to be placed in garbage bags/recycling boxes and stored safely so that animals cannot get into it. Information and location of the garbage dump specific to the cottage will be provided in the final Cottage Rental Agreement.

Water/Plumbing/Septic System
There are strict rules with regards to septic systems. Failure to follow these rules may result in thousands of dollars in repairs.
1. Only bodily waste materials and toilet paper can be flushed down the toilet. NO FEMININE/BABY PRODUCTS: TAMPONS, PADS, DIAPERS, WIPES.
2. Do not put any solid waste materials or grease down the sink drains.

As most cottages draw water from the lake and only some have water purification systems, you may wish to bring your own drinking water.

Camp/Cooking Fires
Small campfires are permitted as directed by the Ministry of Natural Resources. Please identify and adhere to local fire bans when imposed by local authorities (especially during dry/fire season). Do not burn plastic, tin cans, glass, or any other items that should not be in the fire. Always drown out your fire with plenty of water when left unattended, in particular before going to bed. For the use of firewood, there may be a charge from the owner, approx. $25.00 per cart/wheelbarrow.

No Extra Guests/Parties
If you plan on having any additional guests, you must request permission from the owner.

No Smoking
All of our cottages are Non Smoking of any kind in the interior (specific details will be in the final Cottage Rental Agreement).

If your pet has been approved by the cottage owner, you are solely responsible for its actions and whereabouts (specific details will be in the final Cottage Rental Agreement).

Damage Deposit
If there is any damage to the cottage the claim will be handled between the client and Airbnb.
If there are any noise complaints from the neighbours &/or if the Police are called to the cottage for any negative reason, the owner will have the right to hold back some or all of your damage deposit. Some of this money held back may or may not go to appease the neighbours who have been inconvenienced.

Cancellation Policy:
Any cancellation by the rental client must be in writing and emailed to Kawartha Cottage Vacations admin@kawarthacottagevacations.ca On receipt of such notice, we shall endeavour to re-rent the property for the period of the original booking. Any cancellation must be at any time but no less than 90 days prior to the original date of check in.
If we are successful in re-renting, the cancelling client will be reimbursed all original funds minus any shortfalls (the rental difference from the advertised rental rates and what the re-renting client has paid) & a $150.00 KCV Administration Fee.
If we are unsuccessful in re-renting the cottage, all original funds (minus the $150.00 KCV Administration Fee) can be put forward to another cottage rental, at this same cottage, within 1 year (no later than 1 year of your original rental date), during the same season of the next year, of the original rental date (based on availability and at the advertised rates in existence at the time of rebooking).
All “extra persons fees” are non-refundable
If the cancellation notice is less than 90 days prior to the check-in date, and we are unsuccessful in re-renting the cottage for the same dates, all funds will be forfeited. If, however, we are successful in re-renting the cottage for the same dates, the cancelling client will be reimbursed 50% of the original funds paid minus any shortfalls (the rental difference from the advertised rental rates and what the re-renting client has paid) & a $150.00 KCV Administration Fee.
If the outstanding balance of the rental fee as per the CRA is not received at least 28 days prior to the commencement of your rental period and you have not notified us to admin@kawarthacottagevacations.ca, the owner will have the right to cancel your reservation and your deposit is forfeited.

Amendment Policy:
Any amendment or revision to the CRA (Cottage Rental Agreement) requested by the rental client will be subject to a non-refundable fee of $30.00 for each amendment.
