Welcome to our waterfront cottage on Lower Buckhorn Lake. Our cottage is located less then 2 hours away from Toronto and is perfect for couples and families. Have a relaxing evening on the lake and enjoy a campfire with picturesque views of the lake and small islands all around.
The cottage includes a large open concept living space with large windows with a great view of the lake. There are 3 beautiful bedrooms plus bunk house that sleeps a total of 8 people. The oversized back deck overlooking the water is a great escape for your morning coffee or family dinner time in the evening when the sun is setting.
Built on the Canadian shield there yard is landscaped around the beautiful rock. The backyard boasts a large bonfire and huge dock. Power is available near the dock which is great to power your music device or provide electricity for your boat.

The cottage is open concept with beautiful wood slab counters stone detail with under counter lighting and large walls of windows that afford spectacular views of the water. Patio doors off the master that overlook the lake and second full bedroom. Fully updated! Oversized deck with dining area and BBQ for relaxing dinners overlooking the lake. Choose to dine inside or out. Spend your day at the waterfront swimming and fishing, then end your day under the stars at the fire pit.

The property is built on the Canadian shield. The yard is landscaped around the beautiful rock. The backyard boasts a large bonfire and huge dock. Power is available near the dock which is great to power your music device or provide electricity for your boat. The land is flat around the cottage, with a slight slope to the water where it levels off. Fire pit is located on the lower lawn near overlooking the water.
The property and cottage is child and elderly friendly.

The cottage sits on the shore of one of the best boating and fishing spots in the Kawarthas. The lake is filled with Pickerel, Small and Largemouth Bass, Muskie (great in the fall!), Perch, Crappie and Panfish. Just 5 minutes down the road in the heart of Buckhorn, Ontario, you'll fulfill all of your needs during your stay as you will find a grocery store, convenience stores, LCBO, drug store, hardware store, a few dining options and many bait & tackle shops. Located on Lower Buckhorn Lake. Part of the Trent Severn Waterway which is a 386-kilometre-long canal route (240 miles) connecting Lake Ontario at Trenton to Georgian Bay, Lake Huron, at Port Severn. Its major natural waterways include the Trent River, Otonabee River, Kawartha Lakes, Lake Simcoe, Lake Couchiching and Severn River. Its scenic, meandering route has been called "one of the finest interconnected systems of navigation in the world".

Buckhorn - Offers a wide variety of activities over the summer months and has an excellent Chinese Restaurant, Cody Inn, as well as Main Street Landing for outdoor pub fare and a view of the Buckhorn Locks.

Buckhorn Art Gallery - Located just up the road on County Rd 36.

Kawartha Country Wines is also located on County Rd 36 and has a beautiful gift shop and an excellent variety of homemade wines, with free tastings!

Burleigh Falls - Picturesque waterfalls and rapids provide many opportunities to take some nice photos or relax by the flowing water. In the autumn the colours enhance the experience. There's also the Burleigh Falls Inn nearby and the Little Grill Bistro which serves good, pub style food.

Reach Harbour - Ice cream treats for children.

Buckhorn Berry Farm - Purchase or pick your own berries. Fresh produce available daily.

McLean Berry Farm - Homemade baked pies, and fresh veggies daily.

Whetung Ojibwa Centre - Indian Reserve on beautiful Curve Lake, has a unique Native American Goods store.

Bobcaygeon - With well-known Bigley Shoes and Clothing and many other unique shops and restaurants.

Lakefield - Offers shopping and unique shops and restaurants. Flannigan’s Butcher Shop is located on the main street and offers great selections of fresh meats and fish.

Peterborough - Musicfest every Wednesday and Saturday starting at 8pm from June 25th to August 24th. This is a free concert in Del Crary Park and the schedule is on the fridge at the cottage. Take a lawn chair. This city has lots of shopping, an art gallery, and the lift locks which make up the largest lift lock on the Trent Severn Waterway.

House Rules & Cancellations

REQUIREMENT: Before accepting or sending an offer, we will request necessary personal & group information. With this information, a Cottage Rental Agreement (CRA) will be issued (containing property & booking details) that will need to be signed by all guests (age 18+) staying at the cottage. Please read below for a “sample" Cottage Rental Agreement + Liability Waiver.

Terms and Conditions

Cottage Cleaning
Unless extra cleaning service is purchased and specified in your contract, the cottage must be left in the same condition as you found it, ready for the next visitors (specific details will be in the final Cottage Rental Agreement).

Garbage
All garbage and recycling disposal is the responsibility of the rental client. Garbage is to be placed in garbage bags/recycling boxes and stored safely so that animals cannot get into it. Information and location of the garbage dump will be provided in the final Cottage Rental Agreement.

Water/Plumbing/Septic System
There are strict rules with regards to septic systems. Failure to follow these rules may result in thousands of dollars in repairs.
1. Only bodily waste materials and toilet paper can be flushed down the toilet. NO FEMININE/BABY PRODUCTS: TAMPONS, PADS, DIAPERS, WIPES.
2. Do not put any solid waste materials or grease down the sink drains.

As the cottage draws water from the lake it does have a water purification systems, however you may wish to bring your own drinking water.

Camp/Cooking Fires
Small campfires are permitted as directed by the Ministry of Natural Resources. Please identify and adhere to local fire bans when imposed by local authorities (especially during dry/fire season). Do not burn plastic, tin cans, glass, or any other items that should not be in the fire. Always drown out your fire with plenty of water when left unattended, in particular before going to bed. For the use of firewood, there may be a charge from the owner, approx. $25.00 per cart/wheelbarrow. Wood must be purchased at time of signing agreement.

No Extra Guests/Parties
Maximum of 8 people. Only the people who signed the agreement are permitted to stay at the cottage. If you plan on having any additional guests, you must request permission from the owner.

No Smoking
The cottage is strickly Non Smoking of any kind in the interior (specific details will be in the final Cottage Rental Agreement).

Pets
No pets.
Liability waiver
The owner is not responsible for any injuries to people or damage to personal property. The client assumes all responsibility for any and all injuries that happen on the property and in or around the water. There are many risks and dangers associated with boating and activities around and in the water. There are risks of collisions, falls, injuries to spine, arms and legs, pinching, drowning, and death that can arise from the negligence of others, your own negligence, weather conditions, acts of God, water conditions and your own experience and abilities. For the safety of all people staying in the cottage is it the responsibility of the client to understand the risks and explain and manage them to every member of their party.

Damage Deposit
If there is any damage to the cottage the claim will be handled between the client and owner.
If there are any noise complaints from the neighbours &/or if the Police are called to the cottage for any negative reason, the owner will have the right to hold back some or all of your damage deposit. Some of this money held back may or may not go to appease the neighbours who have been inconvenienced.

Cancellation Policy:
Any cancellation by the rental client must be in writing and emailed to cottage106@hotmail.com. On receipt of such notice, we shall endeavour to re-rent the property for the period of the original booking. Any cancellation must be at any time but no less than 90 days prior to the original date of check in.
If we are successful in re-renting, the cancelling client will be reimbursed all original funds minus deposit.
We are unsuccessful in re-renting the cottage for the same dates, all funds will be forfeited.
If the outstanding balance of the rental fee as per the CRA is not received at least 28 days prior to the commencement of your rental period and you have not notified us to cottage106@hotmail.com, the owner will have the right to cancel your reservation and your deposit is forfeited.
