Located on a gently sloping grassy lot, Clear Lake Retreat is perfectly suited to families. The waterfront is easily accessible by children and elderly individuals. This quiet family friendly property is only 10 minutes from the quaint town of Lakefied and 20 minutes from Peterborough. Run, dive or jump off of the 48 foot dock into the deep waters of Clear Lake. Have a bonfire on the beach at night and play soccer or badminton on the lawn during the day.

When you walk in this 5 bedroom cottage the first view you have is of the expansive waters of Clear Lake. It has all the comforts of home that you need including dishwasher, washer/dryer, and a sauna to warm up in. An open concept kitchen looking over the dining and living room is ideal for family dinners and game night.

Interior

Clear Lake Retreat is a non-smoking cottage that is clean and airy. The main level consists of an open concept kitchen, dining and living room with a gorgeous view of the lake visible from the every location. The kitchen comes complete with fridge, stove/oven, dishwasher, nespresso (original capsule) coffee machine, aerocino milk frother, 12 cup Cuisinart coffee maker, coffee bean grinder, microwave, kettle/tea, toaster oven, toaster, and blender.The living room has a fireplace, 3 person sofa, large airchair, comfortable Poang chair with footstool, large antique coffee table and a plethora of board games. Dining room has a solid wood table with 6 chairs and full cupboard of children’s craft supplies and large sliding door that opens on top deck of cottage. The 2 bedrooms on the main level both have new ceiling fans and the bathroom is spacious with a whirlpool tub.

The lower level has a beautiful stone fireplace with a stove inset allowing for ample heat. The front area of this level has another wooden table ideal for crafting or games and seats 4 people. There is also a seating area with a double futon, large armchair and rocking chair. A large glass sliding door allows for easy access to the lawn and waterfront. The 3 bedrooms on this level are cool in the summer and the front bedroom has a clear view of the waterfront. The 6 person sauna is located on this level and easy to access from the water. The washer and dryer are located on this floor ajacent to the lower lever bathroom.

Exterior

There is an expansive flat grassy lawn that is perfect for children and elderly persons. The 100’ waterfront has a large 48 foot dock into 10 feet of water. The dock has 6 Muskoka chairs and a coffee table with large umbrella. There is also a stone fire pit on the waterfront and stone stairs that walk down onto the beach. The driveway is paved and can fit 6 cars although is best used to play pickup basketball. There is also a small children’s playhouse and a forested area at the back of the property.

Weber BBQ (new 2021) – there are 2 propane tanks at the cottage. If one runs out, it is the renter’s responsibility to have it refilled or exchanged at earliest opportunity

The water is 8 – 10 ft at the end of the dock

The dock is large enough to hold an 18’ – 21” bowrider/pleasure/ski type boat or possibly larger – lift and dock whips available

The lake is good for motorboats, water skiing, paddle boarding, kayaking etc

House Rules & Cancellations

REQUIREMENT: Before accepting or sending an offer, we will request necessary personal & group information. With this information, a Cottage Rental Agreement (CRA) will be issued (containing property & booking details) that will need to be signed by all guests (age 18+) staying at the cottage. Please read below for a “sample" Cottage Rental Agreement + Liability Waiver.

Terms and Conditions
(Specific terms and conditions may vary according to each cottage)

Cottage Cleaning
Unless extra cleaning service is purchased and specified in your contract, the cottage must be left in the same condition as you found it, ready for the next visitors (specific details will be in the final Cottage Rental Agreement).

Garbage
All garbage and recycling disposal is the responsibility of the rental client. Garbage is to be placed in garbage bags/recycling boxes and stored safely so that animals cannot get into it. Information and location of the garbage dump specific to the cottage will be provided in the final Cottage Rental Agreement.

Water/Plumbing/Septic System
There are strict rules with regards to septic systems. Failure to follow these rules may result in thousands of dollars in repairs.
1. Only bodily waste materials and toilet paper can be flushed down the toilet. NO FEMININE/BABY PRODUCTS: TAMPONS, PADS, DIAPERS, WIPES.
2. Do not put any solid waste materials or grease down the sink drains.

As most cottages draw water from the lake and only some have water purification systems, you may wish to bring your own drinking water.

Camp/Cooking Fires
Small campfires are permitted as directed by the Ministry of Natural Resources. Please identify and adhere to local fire bans when imposed by local authorities (especially during dry/fire season). Do not burn plastic, tin cans, glass, or any other items that should not be in the fire. Always drown out your fire with plenty of water when left unattended, in particular before going to bed. For the use of firewood, there may be a charge from the owner, approx. $25.00 per cart/wheelbarrow.

No Extra Guests/Parties
If you plan on having any additional guests, you must request permission from the owner.

No Smoking
All of our cottages are Non Smoking of any kind in the interior (specific details will be in the final Cottage Rental Agreement).

Pets
If your pet has been approved by the cottage owner, you are solely responsible for its actions and whereabouts (specific details will be in the final Cottage Rental Agreement).

Damage Deposit
If there is any damage to the cottage the claim will be handled between the client and Airbnb.
If there are any noise complaints from the neighbours &/or if the Police are called to the cottage for any negative reason, the owner will have the right to hold back some or all of your damage deposit. Some of this money held back may or may not go to appease the neighbours who have been inconvenienced.

Cancellation Policy:
Any cancellation by the rental client must be in writing and emailed to Kawartha Cottage Vacations admin@kawarthacottagevacations.ca On receipt of such notice, we shall endeavour to re-rent the property for the period of the original booking. Any cancellation must be at any time but no less than 90 days prior to the original date of check in.
If we are successful in re-renting, the cancelling client will be reimbursed all original funds minus any shortfalls (the rental difference from the advertised rental rates and what the re-renting client has paid) & a $150.00 KCV Administration Fee.
If we are unsuccessful in re-renting the cottage, all original funds (minus the $150.00 KCV Administration Fee) can be put forward to another cottage rental, at this same cottage, within 1 year (no later than 1 year of your original rental date), during the same season of the next year, of the original rental date (based on availability and at the advertised rates in existence at the time of rebooking).
All “extra persons fees” are non-refundable
If the cancellation notice is less than 90 days prior to the check-in date, and we are unsuccessful in re-renting the cottage for the same dates, all funds will be forfeited. If, however, we are successful in re-renting the cottage for the same dates, the cancelling client will be reimbursed 50% of the original funds paid minus any shortfalls (the rental difference from the advertised rental rates and what the re-renting client has paid) & a $150.00 KCV Administration Fee.
If the outstanding balance of the rental fee as per the CRA is not received at least 28 days prior to the commencement of your rental period and you have not notified us to admin@kawarthacottagevacations.ca, the owner will have the right to cancel your reservation and your deposit is forfeited.

Amendment Policy:
Any amendment or revision to the CRA (Cottage Rental Agreement) requested by the rental client will be subject to a non-refundable fee of $30.00 for each amendment.
